It doesn't get much bigger than the World Cup. And for a client like PUMA, there is no better opportunity to communicate your football products, engage your target audience, and use your star players. To build up excitement and raise brand awareness in the lead up to this holy grail of sport, we helped kick-off PUMA's football platform.

PLAYER CHALLENGES

Nothing motivates a football crazy kid more than a chance to interact with their heroes. To give fans around the world the chance to do that digitally, PUMA FC had a unique experience based on a challenge system. This system was built up on our LOOP Box CMS and was technically complex, yet it provided a seamless UX for participants around the world. Users could really engage with the site and feel close to stars like Agüero, Fàbregas, Reus, Cazorla and more.

Thierry Henry and PUMA FC

To let people know about the challenges and have a strong call to action, a series of videos featuring Thierry Henry were used as a gateways for the major challenges. The provided lots of quality content and used Henry's star power to draw people in. These videos were produced by Juliet Zulu.

Getting involved

Getting involved

These challenges required users to do lots of football related activities, ranging from quizzes or polls, tweeting or voting, or sending in UGC. Most of the challenges also had a social connect, which was used to organically grow the platform through Twitter or Facebook. Videos featuring Thierry Henry were used as calls to action for many of the challenges. Some fans won exclusive prizes from their heroes, like a video from Marco Reus or Santi Cazorla’s match day boots.

Social Buzz

PUMA's virtual football club aimed to give the fans something special. The challenges were also linked heavily to social media and there was lots of social hype from fans who wanted to share their PUMA FC experience.

ALL EYES ON PUMA TRICKS

PUMA is famous for their unique two color tricks boots style. Effectively conveying the cool features of the the boots and representing the dual color scheme was the design and UX challenge. We created a world where users could experience the boots with some clever interactions, include a flex feature, a 360 view, and a magnifying function.

Having a responsive site is 100% vital for all things digital in today's hyperconnected world. Having an engagement platform like PUMA FC look good and still have a clever UX system on all devices was a priority in all stages of the project from concept, to design, to development.
